Small bump with tingling nerve pain

This weird little lump, c 6mm across has appeared on the back hand between the knuckles but a fraction further back. If I touch it I get an unpleasant nerve sensation like an electric shock and it runs down my index finger. If I clench my fist with my hand forward it sort of pulls with a similar sensation. I did have a nasty cut on the knuckle but not right above this bump. Any ideas please? Thanks..

Possibly a ganglion cyst?

Didn't think of that jalopy! Just googled and it does sound like what I have! Ties in with the cut I got too..even better, they can often just be left and can disappear on their own :-)
