dh and i have decided agonisingly on the reduce and delay approach to vaccines. we got as far as the 12 months jabs in october but dd has been ill constantly since then so i demanded a break from jabs for a while. ideally we want to go single jabs for mmr and delay the next pneumococal (sic) until dd is in good health.

we are ifnding it hard to track down single jabs down here. i think if we cant find anywhere local i will just give in and allow the mmr when dd is well but id prefer singles.

fyi this is nothing to do with the autism scare - i just worry about her immmune system being affected plus i dont see why she needs rubella before puberty - happy to be corrected though.

actually any sensible advice about vaccines welcomed. i have really tried to imparitally research this issue but find it all very biased one way or the other and ended up really falling out with a forum called 'earthy motherhood' over it becuase they are so hysterical.

please help!!

I will not give any advice. Part of being a parent is to make these decisions on your own.
You can get single jabs except for Mumps.
Try this clinic, they have been going for years.

yap88. thanks for the link.

re advice - well you could apply that to pretty much any thread on mn. part of making parenting decisions surely is engaging in discussion.

Exactly the same situation here!

Ds1 had 2/3/4 month baby jabs and none since. I went along blindly with the recommendation not realising that it was just that, a recommendation.

Ayway as I started researching I became pretty adamant that neither him or now ds2 would have any/anymore jabs at all.

Except dp wants them to have their jabs so we compromised a delayed vaccination schedule missing out one's we are unsure about making sure they only have one vaccination at a time.

So ds1 (22months) will be going back for his Men C booster but not the PCV. His measles vaccine will be done privately and this is wherei have the problem, you may remember that I'm in Plymouth too and I'm still on the search for a private gp who will give us the single measles!

Ds2 is nearly 6months. He has had one 5-1 at 5months and will have the next one's at 6months and 7 months then the Men C at 8 and 9 months and 12months. Then the Measles single at around 2yrs old. Hopefully by which point we'll be in London so be a lot easier to find a private clinic.

But until then, if you find one in Plymouth could you please let me know. Thanks.Grin

Had a consultation at Babyjabs and yes, single measle for me. Babyjabs are based in the West End of London. Only a 10 taxi ride from Paddington if you come to London by train.
