What should I take to perk up

Have had two nasty viral infections in 3 weeks, a gammy leg that wont heal (not an ulcer or anything like that just a horrid scab)and generally feel run down. I have a stressy type job, am a voulenteer board member have and two kids under 4 (tho DP stays at home), so upshot is that I tend to eat on the move a lot (ceral bar in the car for breakfast and sarnies walking from a to b for lunch etc). I am a veggie who eats fish. What can I take to a) give me a boost, and then b)maintain things a bit better. I have resolved to get more sleep and drink more water - this latest bout has really floored me. I've had a headche since xmas that gp thinks may be down to low iron so thats being checked next week. I went to the health shop but found the choice bewildering and dont know where to start.

spatone iron rich water sachets good for boosting iron without getting constipated. Heard Sambucol good for general immunity but don't know the evidence. Both available Boots or health food shop.

You can also buy tonics from any chemist etc packed full of vitamins and iron? I'm sure if you went into one the pharmacist would be most helpful

First of all, you really need to sit down and rest at meal times, while eating a balanced meal. Why are you a volunteer board member if you have a FT job and two pre-schoolers?

Of course you are run down! You are overstretching your body.

you need to eat better.

pointless expecting a supplement to make you feel better if you aren't eating well.

there is no quick fix.

i's second spatone if your iron is low. get that up and you will feel a million times better.

i take a liquid vitamin and mineral tonic or berocca after a cold or bug. there's one called metatone i think that's for after illness which is really good.
fill your bag with healthy snacks and at least try to sit down for a few mintues to eat. you can get tupperware pots for cereal and milk if you like cereal. what about food flasks with a proper meal like pasta or jacket potato?

Metatone is excellent as naturalbaby says.

Thanks for the suggestions will take them up. i know the work life balance needs sorting, that will take a little time to fix but i know i can make some changes that will help now, plus having a full mot whilst signed off. i went back to a new job after ds maternity ended and have overdone it a bit on reflection.
