Strep throat and other symptoms

Hiya

I have strep throat for the third time in seven months. I start to feel exhausted and achy with back pain and achy joints about 10 days prior to getting the throat pain. Then lasts for about a week. Therefore I've probably been ill for 3 months in the last 7.

I'm on penicillin v now but just wondering if anyone has had recurring strep and does anyone have any idea why it keeps returning and what to do to prevent it?

I don't know whether this will specifically help strep but I am a big believer in the benefits of Manuka honey.
I use a spoonful of high factor (18+)honey every time I have a sore throat and it really does the trick! I use a lower factor at other times.

I also use it on my kids too and it does seem to help them too.
HTH x and hope you feel better soon ;)

Thanks Jammy. I've often looked at manuka and been shocked at the price. Is it worth the money then?

It is extortionate Ruby but I keep it in the med cabinet and specifically use it as a medicine as opposed to a spread to put on me toast!!!

I try to buy it on offer eg when Holland and barrett are doing BOGOHP etc A few weeks ago there was a fiver off discount code @ H and B as well.

I really suffer with sore throats...(I rarely get colds)- instead it comes out as a sore throat and I genuinely find manuka helps!

Thanks very much for that Jammy, I'll get some. Smile

Good Luck Ruby.....really hope it helps you too....make sure you go for a proper Manuka honey with high certified UMF ( Unique Manuka Factor). I go for 10+ for everyday and 18+ for treatment of sore throats etc.
