I have been a migraine sufferer since my teens, my attacks are usually period related, I always get one before and after my period and one during ovulation. As soon as i feel one coming I take a migraine tablet (migard) and it goes. My last one started last Tue (when my period started) and it hasn't stopped yet, I have been taking migard tabs and ibuprofen every day and, even if the pain goes, it comes back the next day. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I have been to the doc and he said that hormonal changes could have cause it ( I have a 16 months old dd and since dec my period have become regular and short, when before they were always irregular and extremely long and heavy).
Has anyone ever had a migraine for this long? I feel so ill and terrified that it will never go away! I also hate taking all these tablets all the time.
Doc also suggested the Mirena coil as he said it helps getting rid of menstrual migraines, has anyone had a coil fitted for this reason?

Thanks

Hi sorry to hear this. I suffered from migraines from the age of 9 and (the same time i started my periods - yes very early!). i coincidently went to the dentist to have my teeth checked and after checking he asked if i had migraines, when i answered yes he said it was because my teeth were not aligned properly (only visible on a scan not by looking at me). thus, as a result i ended up getting braces and my migraines have vanished. so although i got them around the time i was due on the problem was actually due to my teeth (the day i had my braces fitted, 2 years ago, i have not had a migraine since then) its like a miracle. you should try going to your dentist and asking for a x - ray - it will be worth it. i shiver everytime i think of the days were i was bed bound from vomitting, and bright lights and the sound of noise would just make me cry. good luck and hope you get better and find a solution.

8 days you poor thing. Mine never last more than a couple of days you have my sympathy.
I'd be back at the Docs if I were you.

Thanks for the replies, I am actually away on a skiing holiday at the moment, will go back to doc when back in UK. Today I managed to go out for a bit after 2 days in bed! I will go to the dentist as well and ask for a scan, I think it's worth checking.
