DP and I met in our early 30s and married 4 1/2 years ago. We're both now pushing 40. Since we met we've moved around for work but have been happily settled in a nice small town for just over 2 years. We have 1 DS, 15 months old.
Since I have known DP he's always had busy, stressful jobs that he loves. However, as he's progressed up the career ladder he's spending more time behind the desk and less time running around doing stuff. As a result he's slowly piling on the pounds; especially in the last two years. He's 5ft 11 inches tall and has gone from (at a guess) about 12st to over 13.5st in that time. He's by no means huge or anything, but the trend worries me.
I do what I can - we have filling but healthy meals at home, I make him a packed lunch every day and last year encouraged him to take up a sporting hobby in his limited spare time (he toyed with Judo, but in the end plumped for the rather more sedate Archery, mostly cos he likes all the kit) which he attends most weeks.
I don't know what to do or what to say to help him make healthy choices. I know he's lost weight in the past, but he's seems unmotivated right now. FWIW although I've never been more than 1st or so over my personal ideal weight, and have a healthy attitude to food now, I'm aware that I do have emotional issues around food and weight, and it makes it even harder to know what to say. I just think the longer he waits the further he'll have to go.
What to do??
