any docs or health experts out there, or indeed anyone experience same probs....

At about 3.30pm onwards for about 2 hours nearly every day I have bad wind, and it is particularly pungent (sorry if too much info)...
I eat healthily and regularly.... it doesn't seem to make any difference what I eat either, it's the same.

Any ideas or suggestions?

What do you normally eat at lunch time? What do you drink?

I get the same problem as you if I have milk, its not good!

katiekittlemouse · 18/02/2011 12:40

Hi Karia,
don't think it's milk as i have the tiniest bit on my cereal, as I add yoghurt.
Mid-morning I often eat a bagel with butter, or a hot cross bun or something..

I drink only one cappucino, with soya milk and then I only drink either Green or herbal teas for the rest of the day.... (no milk).

for lunch I normally have a sarnie with a bit of cheese/salad and maybe a packet of crisps...

that's it....

Are you getting your 5 a day and plenty of water?

katiekittlemouse · 18/02/2011 14:11

I drink a bit of water, and eat lots of veg & a bit of fruit...

mostly drink hot/warm peppermint tea or camomile tea...

Hmmm, I'm not a health professional so limited expertise but am a bit anal (excuse pun) about keeping regular as obviously that helps.

I think the water (2L a day but your teas probably contribute) and fruit/veg are key but also a high-fibre cereal (although I think opinion is divided on this as some say bran makes it worse), live yogurt and plenty of exercise. Anything here you're not already trying?

Hope you have a more comfortable afternoon today and that you find the key to it asap.

cut out the bread and take some good quality bacteria?

katiekittlemouse · 18/02/2011 16:24

thanks all, and Ktay for tips.
I am pretty regular and do most of the above, perhaps the exercise is a bit lacking but I do walk a lot.

Might try some probios though.

Do you wear stockings or leggings a lot? Sometimes having stockings cutting into your waist all day can give you a tummyache and wind. Mid-afternoon would be the time you would feel it.

textualhealing · 18/02/2011 19:19

peppermint tea would probably encourage wind!

katiekittlemouse · 19/02/2011 14:37

really??? I thought peppermint tea was good for the stomach/digestion?

yes peppermint tea is settling

Try cutting bread out at lunchtime, or have a protein breakfast rather than a carby one

Its the sugar in carby stuff that makes me fart
