IV sedation for dentistry. Advice needed before tomorrow

I'm being iv sedated tomorrow.
At my last appointment they said I would need a responsible adult to take me home (an escort).
So I thought my husband could pick me up at the end.
Reading around now I'm getting different answers about whether he's supposed to stay for the whole thing.
He can't stay he has to look after our 22 month old and there is noone else to have him. Theres no way they could sit in the waiting room the whole time.
I'm freaking out now that I've misunderstood them and that I won't be able to get treatment as my dh can't stay. I can't afford to pay for a cancelled appointment as well as treatment. I won't ever be able to get the treatment if he has to anyway as we would still be left with the problem of the baby.

so
does he have to stay?
(can you tell I'm jittery anyway?)

I had IV sedation but it was a few years ago. No need for anyone to wait for you the whole time but if he hasn't come back when you are done you will need to sit in the waiting room for him to come back. When you arrive ask the receptionist roughly how long it should take and then arrange the time he should come to pick you up.

Good luck - I had it as I needed a lot of one off work and was very scared. It was totally fine and I couldn't remember anything afterwards. It was the perfect visit to the dentist!

Thank you
I think I'm just panicking. will arrange for them to ring him when done. He'll make sure he's close by near the end of how long they said it would be.

I was an 'escort' for my BF about 4 years ago for a dental sedation and I didn't have to wait with him. I had a rough idea of when he would be finished so just dropped him off went for a long walk and got a little before then.

You really need to ask the dentists if they want someone to stay. I worked in a practice with 2 dentists who administered IV & one would ask the escort to stay, the other would let them leave, but they would need to be contactable.

The dentist I work for lets escorts leave and come back

I have taken more years than I care to tell you all about to get over my phobia about dentists. I used to have sedation for everything (even cleaning) when I lived in London. Am now able to have fillings done without it, found wonderful dentist. Last time I had it done was about 4 years ago, had an implant. You will need someone to drive/take you home, but they don't need to wait for you while you have the treatment. It's not scary, just like having an injection and I always woke up feeling fine. Good luck.
