Weird heart beat noise in my left ear!

Ok well I think I am going to book an appointment anyway at the doctors but just wondered if anyone else ever had anything like this?

I have had over the last 2 weeks a weird heart beat type noise and feeling in my ear, I did google but alot of different answers.

And it can scare you a little of what it could be! :(

It could be some water in your ear, catarhh, tinitus. Wouldn't worry

I get it from time to time. DOesn't worry me.
It'll probably go away when your tubes clear.

I a big baby tbh and worry about everything, and dh kept saying could be blood pressure, then when I asked him why he said it, he shouted at me and said he weren't a bloody doctor!
So he weren't much good :(

Another reason could be anaemia, that's what the GP said I had when I described a beating sound in my ears. I don't understand the reasoning behind the noise but worth having yourself checked out for it.

IHeartKingThistle · 18/02/2011 22:39

Doc told me it was air. I don't really understand that but that's what she said!

I only get the noise when I'm playing the piano (badly) which is a bit weird.

OADCB · 18/02/2011 22:42

I have had it since November.

GP is rubbish. Currently on drops yet no infection or wax.I think it's pulstile tinnitus.

I'm hoping cranial oestopath will work

OADCB · 18/02/2011 22:43

Have you had a cold recently?

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/02/2011 23:07

oh I have this all the time - and a muffly fluttery feeling in my right ear- doc couldn't think what it was- just that that ear might be quite sensitive and picks up your heart beat- doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

vanimal · 18/02/2011 23:19

I have this too, for about 2 years, since pregnant with DD2. It drives me nuts, but still not had it checked out yet.

is it constant or on and off?

it could be a venous hum. some people have this constantly where they can hear teh blood as it pulses through the veins near their ear.

tomhardyismydh · 19/02/2011 00:16

take sudofed for a week if it still continues go to gp, as it may be that either you have fluid in the ear or its wax that needs to be syringed.

I say go to gp as I get it alot abnd some times its fluid other times it wax.

If its fluid the sudafed usualy gets rid, if not its an iminent infection and will need abs.

if its wax treat with warm oil for a week and get it syringed.

I have made the mistake of thinking its wax, using the oil and infact its fluid so the oil makes the infection worse.

but honestly try the sudofed first.

DJshed- this exactly what I get and it's especially bad when I am watching something on the laptop.

This condition has a name It's called Tensor tympani myoclonus.

I started a thread on this a while back (had a different nickname then)
