I have posted already last week on mn BUT needing more advice please.

This months af is very late, of a cycle of around 35 ish days im on day 49.

Im overweight, been on slimmingworld for last 2 weeks and not a single half pound weight loss...

I feel very bloated, very irritable and really want to find a hole, lock myself into it and sit alone.

Whats wrong..? Sad

I went to the gp's on monday, she suggested doing yet another pregnany test later in the week (done today and its neg again) and said not to worry about the weight issue.

Says to monitor my cycle over 6 months and to come back if its still averaging beyond my usual 35 days Hmm.

So much for the help....

Anyone help me..? im low, very low and embarassed im so overweight and unable to loose it.

btw, had bloods done today for tyroid test.

tia x

There may be no connection at all between the two things. Have you ever been tested for PCOS ?

Are you doing any exercise as well as dieting? you may need to kick your metabolism into action.

I am not familiar with slimming world ( are these chakes and neal substitutes or a diet?) but if you look at the overall calorific intake it may be too high for you- but in any case, you need to exercise as well.

Shhhh · 10/02/2011 21:07

Never been tested CR. BUT I don't think I have any other signs for PCOS. (I assume problem skin, hard to conceive etc..)

sw includes eating food, in certain groups.

Yes, I do exercise. I walk to/from school twice daily (around 40+ mins in total) and I do deept end aqua aerobics twice weekly. GP suggested maybe the walking is what my body needs anyway and that I need more of a sweaty exercise..?

I intend to go on our tredmill tomorrow (hard atm as dh away and I have the dk's..)..

I have severe endemetroisis (can't spell it though!). My consultant said there was a definate link between that and my weight (used to stuff like eat cabbage soup for 2 weeks and not lose a lb) and my depression/moods.

The things that worked for me were a low carb diet-which the consultant said was a good idea(most drastic was cambridge diet or lighter life, less drastic was an actual eatuing food onew like india knight's) -I lost weight and have kept it off for 2 years but did feel crap still. It worked for friend with pcos too. Also contraception was the best thing for me too, first the pill and these days I have a mirena coil-moods much better as are periods.

Does sound very odd and I'm sorry for how you feel-it's crap.

Shhhh · 10/02/2011 21:23

see I had pnd with dd (5 yrs ago) and ds (3 yrs ago) so been on/off ad's.

BUT we want to try for a 3rd (so not wanting contraception) so I took myself off ad's about a month ago..I kept forgetting so thought I was doing well, but as you can guess I don't feel as good BUT no idea if this is just life iykwim.

I feel aggitated, irritable and can barely be bothered having conversations with dh/my mum let alone the dk's.Sad.

Feel like I want to be in my own bubble.

So you cut out carbs.. Im thinking I may stop SW as I don;t feel any benefit after 2 weeks and surely I should have..?

OP posts:
defineme · 11/02/2011 11:49

Do you think you need to stop the trying to concieve for a little while, get back on ads, when your head is straight address the root causes of the depression with something like cognitive behavioural therapy (you csan get books off Amazon on this -kind of diy counselling) or even something as simple as a concerted exercise programme? Combined with low carbing. Then when you've lost the weight and got yourself in a routine you can wean yourself off the ads amnd go for another baby?

However, if you are pregnant I think that often sorts out hormonal stuff.

Shhhh · 13/02/2011 15:47

thing is defineme, I dont personally think I need the ad's.

I think that my stress is no different to others and just feel that the gp sees it as a solution. I have had counselling before and found it helpful to a point.

There isn't anything in particular that gets me down, just everyday issues. Rushing about is my major factor and I am doing my best to take things a bit easier.

Im not wanting to hold back on baby 3 as now seems the right time and I don't really want to waste time iykwim.

Really atm its the weight and lack of periods that the big Hmm.

Vicious circle really.. and I know that once expecting I will gain about 2-3 stone... BUT like you said, hopefully pregnancy hormones may blance me more.

Had bloods taken on thurs so will see what comes back next week, btw now on days 52 of an average 35 day cylce..Hmm.

Geeze, I feel im gonna explode Grin

Just to add, I do regular exercise and looking at upping it (our treadmill dh discovered on fri is broken Hmm. so trying to get something sorted..). Im also on low card since thurs. Decided to ditch the diets and to monitor myself with healthy eating and a reduction in carbs. I feel better already. No bloating (as I was on slimming world the last 2 weeks) and feel "more me" iykwim.

Have you recently come off the pill? Im on day 50+ (i've given up counting now it's been that long!) and despite numerous negative pg tests my stomach has decided to be really tender and bloated but no period. I can only put it down to coming off Cerazette (which i did to regulate my cycle lol)

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 13/02/2011 17:53

Hi op, you poor thing your head must be in a whirl.

I have pcos and trouble with my weight happened at around the same year as my diagnosis. I thought I'd had a miscarriage due to no period and such heavy blood loss. I had a scan and you could see the little cysts all over. I don't have any other symptoms.

So I was told to loose weight. I seriously wouldn't go Cambridge 500 calories a day led me to almost suicidal depression. I have watched my friend bounce up and down on lighter life and everytime she gets a little bit bigger.

I lost on weightwatchers and dropped 4 stone in 5 months, by calorie control and walking 2 hours a day. SW is what I am on now to shift the final stone. This is because I live abroad now and WW is harder to do here. SW is very misunderstood, it is all about fresh fruit and veg and is very healthy, but, you must make sure you fill two thirds of your plate with super free foods op, and make sure you are truthful about the syns.

I have the same pre menstrual symptoms as you if my weight goes over 15 stone as it did in the past my period cycle goes 90 days and then, well last time I lost a blood clot the size of an apple in work and had to stand over the toilet as the blood just ran through my trousers. It also leads you to exhaustion and anaemia. I got pms for three weeks at a time, and would be found crying on the floor in the mornings by my husband. On average I would lose about 3 times as much blood as after giving birth. A pad an hour was a good day.

You need to ask your doctor to send you for a scan, they can tell how thick the lining of your womb is and suggest a d and c if necessary. She can also prescribe you transexamic acid to help cope with the blood loss.

You seem to be getting robbed off, so go back and see another doctor. The nurse at my clinic suggested I photograph a clot to show the doc as I think he was convinced I was exaggerating.

Make sure you are taking iron supplements as this month is going to sound hard. You need vitamin b complex by the sounds of it.

Get a heart monitor and find your fat burning rate, it could be you are working too hard, this surprised me with my husband mentioning this as someone who trained in the army, but you need fat burning not card vascular at present.

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 13/02/2011 17:55

Fobbed off not robbed off...

Shhhh · 13/02/2011 20:16

hardhat, last on the pill properly about 10 years ago (before dh & I started for kids) and I stayed off it till last yr when my gp suggested it for depression/low moods etc. I was on it a few months and took myself off it. I felt it no benefit and daft given the fact that we wanted more kids...! So I guess been pill free for around 6+ months.

binfull, thats for the reasurrance.. See I lost around 3 stone on ww a few yrs ago but really am struggling now.. hence me trying sw.

I think I will start ww this week (if anything) and go back to basics. I will also look at the exercise part of it.

Thanks also for the tips re Iron and blood loss.. I really never thought of that so thankyou.

I have started folic acid just in case but I am really doubtful and really feel af is going to be very delayed and a PITA once it arrives Sad. Geeze the things us women out up with Sad.

Shhhh · 14/02/2011 09:28

Yeah day 53 and af has arrived Grin.
Never thought I would be so happy for it ! Hmm.

Goodness knows whats going on with my body HmmSad

Told dh maybe we should take it as a sign that we need to get moving with baby 3 before my body decides "no more"...

Hi elc,

My daily diet is roughly:

Breakfast: cereal bar or 2 pieces of weight watchers toast or cereal (weetabix). Inc fruit (banana or satsuma) midmorning.

Lunch: Weight watchers soup or ww bread as a sandwich with tuna or chicken. Muller light yoghurt and fruit.

Dinner: Anything from salmon and salad, chicken roasted (with veg), spagetti bolognaise or cottage pie.

I do have one day at a weekend where dh & I will have a takeaway and I will have a glass or two of wine or 2/3 vodkas.

I drink coffee (1-2 a day) and diet drinks.

BUT I did do slimming world about 2 weeks ago and the above diet changed as I went onto eating much more meat (bacon and eggs) and more muller lights and much more fruit and baked beans and jacket potatoes. Items I wouldn't normally eat and I felt bad on the diet. Didn't loose weight and very boated..

I don't work, im a sahm. One in school, one at home. HTH x

No diary been kept for food&mood, not been tested for allergies.

I find my diet quite healthy.. I guess being weight aware has drummed it into me about taking ahealthy option iykwim.

I just feel like im always on a diet and today im in the frame of mind that I wont waste my money on dieting anymore and will focus on exercising and becoming more healthy that way if it makes sense..?

Well.... I used to be 9st 6 possibly this time last yr and I wanted to get lower Hmm but tbh looking back now, I wish I was that weight now! I was to much obsessed with the weight as a number and now how I looked or what I fitted into.

Now im 10 st 10 which is not massive I know but its heavy for me at 4ft 11.

Ideally I want to loose and get back to what I was..

I also want to have baby 3 this year and wanted to be lighter, ready for the weight gain that comes with a baby !

You are right, I don't drink water at all... In fact I rarely drink udring the day. I would say average day 3 drinks max Blush.

That is bad.. Now I see it typed down SadHmm.

I just never seem to give myself the time to pour a drink, as bizarre as it sounds.

OP posts:
Shhhh · 14/02/2011 12:21

right, im off to aqua aerobics now. I have a drink in hand and will aim to drink it by the time the lesson has ended Smile.

I will get back to you x

Shhhh,

I think you should be tested for PCOS as this coule be a possible reason why you have such problems now.

It is a very individualistic disorder and affects each woman with it very differently.
