DD4 had scarlet fever over the weekend. I seem to have similar symptoms now, but no rash. I'm exhausted, slightly feverish (except for last night when my temp was really high), and my joints and skin ache. I have a swollen gland in my neck that is very tender, and one in my abdomen. I have spoken to my GP on the phone and he's advised that I probably don't need antibiotics at the moment (that was 11am today), unlike DD4 who, being muchyounger, needed them to protect against complications.

But, my neck is beginning to ache all over - it's worse when I move it, or I have to hold my head u p for too long (ie. when I'm not lying down). I don't have an aversion to bright lights or anything though and, as I said, no rash.

Would you be trying to get down to OOH this evening? Is the aching neck just general tiredness or soemthing to really worry about?

HIya, I'd phone just to check out, you didn't have this symptom this morning, so your GP only gave you advice based on how you felt then.
Hope you feel better soon, and your family xx

Thanks. Just did NHS Direct symptom checker online and they seem to say that if you can put your chin to your chest even if it hurts, then it's not serious and to contact your GP in next 36h.

You are obviously thinking of meningitis and I am not a medic but I have a friend who had viral meningitis last year and she certainly had a rash. However don't take any chances and if you are still worried tomorrow I would go to OOH - even if it's just to set your mind at rest.
