3yr old with eyelash growing into eye

DS is 3.1.

His right eye has been running for the past few days, thought he had a bit of a cold or viral conjunctivitis.

Wasn't too concerned as the eye isn't at all red, there's no pus and he's not bothered about it.

Just noticed an eyelash right in the outer corner of the eye is growing down into the eye. I think this might be causing the eye to run.

Do I need to worry about this or do anything about it. Can't be too careful with eyes so going to take him to doctor. Has anyone else experienced this?

My dd aged 5 had this..I plucked it out with tweezers ...i was nervous but shielded her eye as best i could and plucked it out..she said it felt brilliant afterwards!

I had this a couple of times (was older though). Might be worth getting your doctor or practice nurse to have a look at it rather than just going it alone. (As you say, eyes are precious).

doc plucked it out,
has never grown back.
I would have been too nervous to do it
she was just 6 months at the time.

I must add that i uncurled it and got it to stick out of her eye with a wet cotton bud before going for it!!!
