DH's friend bleeding from the back passage

Just thought Id ask to see if anybody has experienced or known of anything similar.

My dh's work friend has been bleeding heavily from the back passage, even clots too. Its not the 1st time its happened either, & he put it down to drinking. But it happened again the other day & he had not had a drink at all.
he's not been to the Dr's either, not does he have piles (so he says)
my dh is quite concerned about him,& thinks his wife should kick him up the bum & make him go to the Dr's.

Id be worried sick if it was my dh-wouldnt you?

He's about 31 yrs old by the way

I agree with your dh; his wife should frog-march him to the GPs as soon as possible to get him checked out.

Straight to the GP!!! That is NOT a good sign and the quicker its seen to the better.

That's really worrying. At best he could have torn something when passing a stool but that would still need medication.

If he can talk about it to another guy, then he is very worried,

Get your DH to build on that worry and get him to go to the GP.

Please tell your dh's friend about my SIL's dh. He ignored bleeding from his back passage and ended up dead at the age of 50, with colo-rectal cancer.

The chances are it's nothing serious but it's not worth the risk, it really isn't.

WWB- thats my worry too.
My dh has told him on more than one occasion to go straight to the gp. he keeps telling my dh that he is going to, but hasnt seem to have done anything about it.

My FIL had the same problem, but not as bad, & he ad an ulcer, so that what my dh is thinking it is.

Would your dh be able to make an appointment for him, and drag him there?

I dont know really. I dont even know what surgery he is at.
I will have a word with my dh later, but dont want to say anything on the phone to him at work as I dont suppose his mate would be happy about him telling me.

I fear the worse Im afraid.

Do you think his wife actually knows about this? I can't imagine anyone being happy to ignore this if it was happening to their dh.

Do you or your dh know his wife, could you mention it to her?

Yes we both know his wife, but not close IYNWIM.

I dont have her home number, but Id worry about what X would think of me interfering, or the fact that my dh has told me.

Ive just sent my dh a text & asked him how X is, so waiting for a reply.

My dh told me yesterday that he said to X that his wife needed a shake for not pushing him to go to gp, so I presume she knows.

I would echo all the comments made here.

This man cannot stick his head in the sand anymore and ignore this. He should not potentially die because of perceived embarrassment.

He needs immediate medical attention and I hope for his sake as well as his family's that he has not left it too late for this underlying problem to be treated effectively.

DH has just text me back.... X has made appnt for Fri to go Drs. So thats a start.

That's good news. Now all he needs is bullying into actually going to the appointment!

Yes it is good news. But one good thing is my dh witnesssed him making the appnt, so at least he knows he's done the 1st step.

why?

I presume because it only happened after a drinking session.

He probably put it down to drinking because he's a typical man - has his head in the sand and it's easier to blame it on a one-off than to accept there might be something wrong.

He is a bit on the "dim side" though.

But yea thats a typical man I aggree, Ignore it & it will go away.

They blame alot on drinking anyway IMO
