Lower stomach muscle pain after pregnancy

Hi all,
I have just given birth to DD2 on wednesday and have noticed a painful area about 3-4 cms lower down than my belly button. It feels sore and sensitive to palpate. Any suggestions?
Midwife coming on wednesday this week for post-natal check.
I'm wondering about separated abdominal muscles? Anybody have experience to this?

Just remember everything is sensitive on the old tummy after childbirth, the more kids you have the worse the afterpains are, also as regards the muscles being seperated, well 3 years after giving birth to my 3rd my muscles are still sep, i never did the excercises properly, so make sure you do, also just perhaps mention to your midwife just incase you have an infection, i had that, but no pain i must add, but i did have an infection as a piece of membrain was left insid me. just phone up your midwife center to run it past them, it will put you mind at rest, but honestly my muscles were sensative for days after. i hope this helps.

Thanks Funky, I see what your saying about it being early days etc. Its just a very tender spot that I'll keep my eye on.

HIya, yep I had this, I echo what funky said to get checked out etc

I bet everyone will be bored of me posting this link, but honestly - even if you had your kids 20 years ago you can still do these exercises to help close/strengthen the muscles, I've almost (almost) closed a very large diastasis separation using the techniques. I just want to help anyone. I had an emcs but I was tender for many months afterwards. HTH and congrats, be easy on yourself Smile
