you should be off to the A&E for stitches if it had been bleeding for more than an hour or ya finger will fall off!

misdee · 10/10/2005 23:25

really? cant i just leave it overnight?

OP posts:
misdee · 10/10/2005 23:25

You might need a stitch misdee. Can you get to A&E?

ScarySkribble · 10/10/2005 23:25

Gillian76 · 10/10/2005 23:26

I think it needs seen to!

princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 23:26

misdee if it has really been bleeding for 6 hours when do you think it is going to stop? I'm afraid you need to get it seen to....

morocco · 10/10/2005 23:26

have you spoken to nhs direct? me, I'd be off to A&E or to docs tomorrow if they do stitch work.
Alternatively, you could get out the butterfly tape and try diy (sellotape is not nearly as effective )

misdee · 10/10/2005 23:28

it might stop overnight when i dont move my finger?

i promise i'll go tomorrow if itsstill bleeding.

OP posts:
spookylips · 10/10/2005 23:29

im only jokin about the finger will fall off

Gillian76 · 10/10/2005 23:30

Phone your out of hours Dr at least. I don't think it's a good idea to leave it overnight

princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 23:31

anyone else read about that woman who went to bed with a bleeding toe and died in the night?!! not meaning to scare you misdee

spookylips · 10/10/2005 23:31

spookylips · 10/10/2005 23:31

on gillians behalf!!

misdee · 10/10/2005 23:33

/misdee runs for the phone.

it seems to be slowing down. iirc correctly its been left too long to be stitched now.

OP posts:
princesspeahead · 10/10/2005 23:35

well maybe try and go to sleep with your hand above your head...

and post in the morning so we don't have to send paramedics around to break down your door

misdee · 10/10/2005 23:36

ok ok.

its strapped up well.

soapbox · 10/10/2005 23:40

Misdee - make yourself some home made butterfly stitches. Get a couple of plasters and cut narrow strips from them, about 3-4mm wide and 3 cm long. Just cut them as best you can but only use the sticky bits not the pads!

Then put them across the wound, drawing the cut edges together as firmly as you can manage. Do this all along the cut. Then wrap in a big bandage and leave it well along!

Unless you can see the bone this should stop the bleeding.

misdee · 10/10/2005 23:43

cant see the bone. its right nearthe nail across the top.

OP posts:
morocco · 10/10/2005 23:49

wishful thinking about leaving it too long for stitches, you big scaredycat!!

morocco · 12/10/2005 22:13

misdee · 12/10/2005 22:17
