If I have the same bug that DD had last week, I should have given her more sympathy

She was 'ill' & coughing, I thought it was asthma, saw GP who upped her inhaler. I kept saying "take your ventolin; you'll be fine"

4 days later saw different GP who diagnosed tonsillitis and 2 weeks in she is starting to get better.

I couldn't get up this morning I feel rough, weak, dizzy, light-headed, brain bouncing off the inside of my skull, aches everywhere

If this is what DD had I was very mean & unfair

I guess I need to apologise

Only upside is I don't have (& won't get) tonsillitis.....I had them out

Hi Katy,
Unfortunately you may well get tonsillitis, we all have more tonsils than we think. It's called waldeyer's ring and consists of lingual tonsils, palatine tonsils (the ones we refer to as tonsils) and pharyngeal tonsils.

All of these get inflamed in tonsillitis and contribute to the awful sore throat and stiff neck feeling we get. The "other" tonsils can't be removed as they are ubiquitous throughout the throat tissues. This is something I was disappointed to find out when I had a tonsillectomy at 20 years of age!!!

It's horrible to feel so poorly and I hope you feel better soon, I don't want to say much more as someone will be on before too long telling you I'm wrong despite 6 years of studying head and neck disease and anatomy so please PM me if you have any queries.

You have my every sympathy.

Ironically kids don't suffer as much as their immune systems don't put up so much of a fight as adult initially. So you are suffering more than her. But at least you can drink wine and pass out! Wink

Well I definitely have something; a mouthful of ulcers (I think that was spelt wrong but I'm sure it translates OK)

Yep stiff neck, sore lumps in my neck

Wine? Nah I don't drink - sugar & garlic & bread are my drugs....not all at once of course (err coke & Garlic bread Hmm?) along with co-codamol

Well today I feel I have a hangover

Shaking, dizzy, slightly sick & oh so tired

Why do bugs hit me this way?
