Phoned GP's and was told to take a sample in as I was experiencing some discomfort on passing urine.
Sample tested and nurse concerned due to high blood content.
No infection showing Hmm
Past menopause so definately not pregnant ,or as she asked, having a period.
Feel concerned now as waiting for a call back so they can decide what to do.
Anyone put my mind at ease please ?

If you've no history of kidney problems (e.g. cysts, stones) then the most likely explanation is an infection which is causing inflamation somewhere (possibly the bladder). Somtimes the infection takes a while to show on the tests, sometimes it never does (and you get a diagnosis along the lines of "non-specific inflamation").

Having said that, it's something that they may well want to get to the bottom of. Possible diagnostic routes would include an ultrasound of your lower abdomen (to check kidneys etc), a cystoscopy (to check bladder) and, ultimately, a CT scan (again, to check kidneys and upper urinary tract).

Best wishes.

I now have AB's ,but have not seen the GP.
Sample sent off and I will ring Monday to get result. I hope i don't need any other investigations as I had of doctors and hospitals last year.
Thanks for your reply though.
