Have googled, but don't know what im looking for really.

Dp went to docs as he lost his periphiral (sp) vision temporarily whilst driving, doc checked him over and sent him to optician. He is being referred to hospital.

Optician said there was white dots at the backs of his eyes and his optic nerve was 'furry' and it could just be plaque, however when I look up plaque and optic nerve on google, it refers to tumours Sad.

Hi TiS, sorry to hear your DP is having problems with his eyesight.

Your DP's optician (from your post) did not sound overly concerned that his optic nerve was furry. Did he lose sight in both eyes or just one? When you say back of his eye, do you mean retina? I am absolutely positive though if the optician thought your DP had a tumour he would have said so and your DP would be in the hospital right this second, which he isn't :).

Please do yourself a big favour though and stop Googling, it will do nothing but worry you both unneccesarily. Please let me know how he gets on :)

Hi, thanks, he's back from work and its changed slightly from what he told me earlier.

She showed him a picture of the back of his eye and there was a white dot there that she said should not be.
He also said something about a narrowed nerve?! and that she said it could be something that has come off his heart for example and travelled up there (not good either if this is the case)

I don't think he remembers the half of it as he says he totally bricked it when she said she was referring him to hospital, he didn't even know how he was getting referred, ie has he to wait for a letter to come through etc, I hope he wasn't meant to go up straight away and was so panicked that he just never took it in, but she would have made that clear if he had to go there and then, wouldn't she?

No more google!

Yes I'm very sure she would have made it very clear if DP was meant to go straight to hospital :).

Have you and DP thought about going back to the opticians tomorrow to see if you can discuss his results further with the optician? Might take some worry and stress off your shoulders. Have you looked online to see if there are any eye hospitals near you? They have A&E departments and I'm sure they would be able to give you a diagnosis rather than you both having to wait for a referral if you are worrying. :)

Oh there's no chance, he's very ostrich like and will wait for the letter I think, may probe this later or tommorow though.

Best go, Im the one being grounded and it'll be something or nothing while he is trying to hide his panic, so don't want him to know I'm panicking as well !!

Thanks Smile
