Co-amoxiclav and acidophilus tablets

Hi, I just finished a course of Co-amoxiclav after the scar of my C-section was infected. The health visitor advised to also take acidophilus tablets to prevent thrush (I am breast feeding). Does anyone know how long after I have finished taking the antibiotics it is best to continue taking the acidophilus tablets? The health visitor was a bit vague on that....I normally dont take any tablets and not to keen to do that whilst Bf but certainly even less keen to risk getting thrush!!....thanks!!

I'd say at least a packet, however some nutritionist will probably suggest longer, so called maintenance dose. But as it's not a drug per se, you need not worry about any adverse interactions.
All the best for the new Mum & baby :)

Congratulations Sam!

I agree, don't worry about taking them. They are a healthy supplement of good bacteria for your gut, so will only do you good.
And I have just had a dose of thrush (in pregnancy), so you have reminded me I should be taking them too!
Off I go to the chemist,...
