i suspect i may have this - have been unwell for nearly two weeks today chest pain finding it hard to breathe ,saw the gp today she diagnosed a chest infection and i have 500mg of amoxicillan.
i feel so ill my chest is so tight sore and feels like its burning ,im shakey and scared.Sad

You got antibitotics today and that's the treatment for it in any event.

Take them and see if you improve.

i know but its so painful,have taken nurofen for the pain with not much improvement - can anyone recommend a better painkiller

My Dad has pleurisy and is on Codeine. . he says its very effective.

I've got pleurisy also (after pneumonia as a result of flu). I'm on codeine and paracetamol. I can't take ibuprofen 'cos I'm pregnant. The codeine takes the edge off the pain enough for me to get some sleep. It is sooo painful though. Jajas description is right on the money.
