I have suddenly developed this very bad cough, can't stop coughing, short of breath. Have severe asthma and have extremely low peak flow reading. I have just come out of hospital (visiting) and have been close to swine flu patients (not intentionally but due to poor hospital procedures). I am not vaccinated. Saw GP and he thought I may have chest infection and prescribed anti-biotics just in case, I asked about swine flu but he didn't think so (not sure why because he didn't test me in any way). I have tamiflu from 2009 which is not expired. I am a long way from out of hours, and really do not feel up to driving there. I am worried, really worried, would you start taking tamiflu if you were me (I am just about withing the first 48 hours)?

do you have other smptoms,to be honest i would trust your doctor on this one as tami flu has some nasty side effects.

Thanks, I took in the end one tamiflu tablet (no side effects, I used it in 2009 as well and had no side effects either). However, my cough has changed from a very dry itchy non-stop cough to a productive cough so I think the anti-biotics are now working, so probably a chest infection indeed. Thanks for your reply.

Be careful bout taking tamiflu with your antibiotics incase there are any interactions?

Can you take Tamiflu twice? I thought you could only use it once Confused.
