Anyone had dental implants

I need two dental implants to replace my cracked molars which have now been extracted. Has anyone had dental implants and what are your experiences? Also, any recommendations where to go or not to go? Thanks.

I have an implant which replaced one of my top front teeth. It was expensive and the treatment took a long time (added complications meant I needed a bone and soft tissue graft) but I've had mine 6 years and haven't looked back. I live in the SW and went to a specialist in Bath who I would wholeheartedly recommend. Can your dentist recommend someone?

Thanks. I need to make an appointment with my dentist in two to three weeks (he had to take fragments of the molars out bit by bit, so he thinks that it will take a while for the swelling to go down - at the moment on anti-biotics and extremely painful even with all possible painkillers). However, he did say that the choice is going to be a denture or implants (he won't do implants). So, I have been reading up on dentures and not keen on that (especially as jaw bone will thin and then in future will be more difficult and expensive no doubt to switch to implant). So far I have seen that implants in UK can range from £1000 to £3000 per implant depending where you go. But I have no idea who is good and who isn't. Could you let me know who in Bath you went to (I don't mind travelling somewhere in UK if I know they are good). I will ask dentist as well when I have an appointment, but rather have recommendations from people who have actually used a certain clinic.

Hi I've had two in place of where I have a cleft lip and palette.

I've had three bone grafts, two taken from me under GA and one mini one using pig or cow something or other.

It was a long drawn out process but the final result looks brilliant.

I had mine done at the Eastman dental hospital in London, however all my treatment has been free.

Thanks Ednurse. I see from their website that they also take private patients, so I will contact them next week to see how much they will charge ... Still in a lot of pain so I expect it won't be any time soon ...

I have an implant on my LL6, its been fabulous. Mine was done by a prolific surgeon who is well published in Dental Implants. PM me if you would like to discuss further, OP.
I recommend them 100% and would use the same surgeon again, if I ever needed another tooth replaced.

This is the clinic I went to in Bath. Jonathon Schofield founded the clinic and did my implant. A lovely man as well as being quite brilliant. I had to have my front tooth removed 3 weeks before I got married and then started the treatment soon after so as you can imagine the whole thing was quite emotional (not what you want as a bride trying to look good on her big day!)but he was great.

I have had 3 dental implants done all at the same time - this cost £6000 and I feel was well worth every penny - I really didn't want dentures in my 40s. The whole process took a year - had to wear a denture for about 6 months to allow gums etc to settle down. I used a implant specialist in Birmingham and he was great.

both my mum and dad have had implants and it's been really good for them, particularly because they have/had periodontal disease as well i think. have several acquaintances whose confidence in everything dental was massively rocked by dentures...when implants would have possibly been a better solution.

Also thinking of having an implant but have heard that the titaniumm used in the screws can lead to problems eventually. Help!

Has anyone here had implants?
I had my 2 top front teeth out on September 24th and had bone grafts done at the same time. I will probably need 5 in total 1 at the back and 2 next to my front teeth (all at the top)
Any personal experience stories welcome.

the solution could be Turkey. I've used Medigance health . Never had an issue with communication and level of service thanks to medigance health,ı was treated at a state of the art dental clinic in turkey for more or less a third of what ı would have paid in the UK.

I regret having had dental implants. I was thrilled with them at first; they looked wonderful, my mouth was perfectly comfortable.
I believed they would last forever, but after a year 2 of them dropped out, leaving an ugly shell. I expected they would be replaced by the dentist at no cost. This did not happen, I was told the price would be £200. I can't afford this at present. This means I have to keep my mouth shut when I smile. Sometimes small fragments of the remainder of the implant become detached when I eat.
I warn anyone considering implants to remember that they cannot be insured, that they do not last for ever, leading to ongoing expense for the rest of your life.
