Metallic taste again,could it be anything else besides pregnancy????

I have been pregnant four times and each time i have had a metallic taste come into my mouth usually a week before my period has been due.

I am in a new relationship at the moment,and we took a slight risk last week so to be on the safe side i went and got the morning after pill,and i am due on in a weeks time and yesterday i started to get the metallic taste in my mouth.I am hoping and praying it is not because i am pregnant,obviously as it is a new relationship and i have a 5yr old and a 14 month old from different dads as it is,oh i dont know what to think,so i was wondering if anyone knew if the metallic taste could be because there is a higher level of hormones in my body due to the morning after pill and that its not only a symptom of the pregnancy hormone itself.Please,anybody any information greatly appreciated.......

sometimes if your gums have bleeding or anything or a ulcer can make the metal taste appear..however it is usually pregnancy but you wont know until you either get period or test.

I know i wont know till i do a test or get my period but i just wanted to hopefully find someone that said "oh yes,it could actually be this....."

I have no problem with my gums bleeding or any ulcers either unfortunately!!!

last time I had a metallic taste it was from antibiotics (IV ones) thought I was going mad until I looked it up and it was a listed side effect.

Ooh,i am on antibiotics for my skin,wonder if thats it,but have been on them for about 5 months now though so would have had it before now wouldnt i???

Oh and now to top it all off i am getting brownish blood.I think that is a side effect/affect(god knows!) from the morning after pill though.

Is there anyone else out there with any ideas please?

I am really hoping someone will say there is possibly another reason for it......

I would have thought that if you have taken the MAP and have some bleeding, it is unlikely that you could be pregnant. Try not to worry, there isn't anything you can do about it at the moment.

I don't think this will help you but I have been told that if you are on antibotics then the pill won't work. I don't know if this is is true for the morning after pill.

Its ok.I know it doesnt apply for the morning after pill as they always ask me what medicine I am on,thanks though for the reply!

Apparently in the Levonelle booklet though,it says you may experience some bleeding mid cycle so doesnt mean i wont be pregnant.I have gone through every possible reason in my mind and its driving me mad.I know there is no point worrying until i can take a test or get my period but you still worry dont you.I really dont want to be a mum of 3 children from different fathers and in a relationship where its too early to tell if it will work out or not,but i also cant bear the thought of termination,been there once before and swore i would never go there again.

I'm sitting here trying to work out if i have the taste again this morning which i know i shouldnt do cos you can sometimes imagine to some extent that its there,i didnt have it as bad yesterday as i did the day before.I had a miscarriage before i had my son and just over three weeks after the miscarriage i started getting that taste again and i kept on telling everyone that i was pregnant again and they were saying that it was too soon after the miscarriage for me to be pregnant again but i was sure i was and rightly so i did a test and i was pregnant with my son,so i am almost positive(pardon the pun) that i am pregnant unless someone comes up with some other explanation as to why i feel like i am sucking a battery,please anyone,cant speak to my mum about it,she'd faint with shock if i said i could be pregnant again!

Sorry that you are so worried and that you've had a bad time before. I really think though that you should get yourself some proper contraception, that would be the best way of making sure this doesn't happen again.

Yes i know what you are saying,doesnt help my immediate problem but yeh,i know i should.I've been on the pill before and it doesnt suit me,takes my sex drive away completely,and i have heard nothing but horror stories about the coil,and what with it being a very new relationship,i had not decided at that point what type of contraception to try out,was in the middle of researching it all.I dont know,its my fault i guess,we didnt use a condom once but i went and got the morning after pill within the 12 hours so i really cant see how i can be pregnant but its not a 100% guarantee and i cant see what else this taste could be.

I got PG even after the MAP.

Yes so did i,about 3 years ago,which is why i am worried.
