Umbilical hernia in adults

Hi

Was wondering if anyone has had an umbilical hernia repair and if so, how quickly did you recover?

I developed one during pregnancy and I'm on a waiting list to have it repaired asap.

I've been told that I won't be able to lift anything post op for at least two weeks - bit tricky when there's a 16 month old to look after!

Hope someone out there can fill me in on what to roughly expect.

Thanks!

DH had an umbilical hernia repair and it was about 6 weeks before he was back to "normal", though he was able to lift the kids (ages 1 and 3 at the time) from about 2-3 weeks.

HTH!

Thanks - that does help. Just wanted to know how soon I would be able to pick up (wrestle?) DS again.
