Freaked out. Have I got nits or not???

Been really itchy the past day and have a sore neck. Been through both children's hair very thoroughly and found nothing. Then went through mine and found 1 egg, no nit.

What do I do. I am actually quite freaked by this!

I wouldn't use chemicals so have combed through anyway. Just have to keep on checking!

Try a teatree shampoo and conditioner.

But what laid the egg?

Did you wet comb or dry, as wet is infinitely better.

doubt it was an egg, they are almost impossible to get out. when searching your hair it needs to be very wet to immobilise the lice, otherwise you probably wont find any. they are speedy little blighters!

I'ld check again tomorrow and see if you find anything at all - you could be mistaken about the egg.

my personal opinion is that if you are iffy at all about whether you actually have them, don't bother with the malathion type stuff, but do the teatree and conditioner approach instead (to avoid possible unnecessary use of the chemicals)

Its the salive from the lice that cause the itchiness so if you haven't found even one it probably isn't that making you itch.

Just do the wet coming with the tee trea for a wekk and if still nothing found then it really wont be nits

On the same note, I have been itching for weeks and was so sure I had nits. Did tee tree wet combing etc.. and finally went to doctors to be told its excema A special lotion and no more itching!!
