As the anaesthetic wears off it is very painful, is it normal?

I wouldn't have thought so. I'd certainly ring the dentist if it doesn't settle down overnight.

Oh this happened to me once, I was in more agony than I had been before the filling. I rang the dentist and he gave me some spiel about it being a deep filling blah blah, and after a couple of days it was fine.

You could ring the dentist up though just to put your mind at rest.

andchips what happened ? Did it sort itself out ?

yeah it can be very painful if it was particularly deep/close to the nerve

it shouldn't be so painful that paracetamol/nurofen don't ease it though

andchips · 08/12/2010 19:47

yes OnEdge it did. Didn't take long. It felt a lot better after 24 hours and then slowly eased off. I was in a right state though, it was so sore. The dentist advised stong paracetemol and ibuprofen.

Hope it stops hurting soon.
