Help advise needed for Severe dyskaryosis - Colposcopy - cervical biopsey

I am 25 and went for my first smear test which came back with Severe dyskaryosis. A week later I had a colposcopy (which really does not hurt unlike what google searches state) and they then did a cervical biopsey. This happened three weeks ago and I still do not have the results. The thing that really worries me is I have no idea how long these cells have been there as the smear was my first one! They said my biopsey results would come back in 4 - 6 weeks but still havn't heard anything. Any advice is welcome! Please let me know anything!

Call your GP in the morning and ask them to chase it up.

I got my results back 6 weeks later and was told at the time of my biopsy that I would only hear sooner if the resuts showed something more serious. Dont worry but there is no harm in ringing to find out when they will be sent out. Good Luck

Hi
I work in pathology, 4-6 weeks is fairly standard for hearing about biopsy result (not saying it's acceptable mind!). As your biopsy was 3 weeks ago, I'd be expecting them next week.
However if you are getting more anxious then as nevergoogle says, give your GP a call and see if they'll chase it up.

Were you given a leaflet about your abnormal result and the colposcopy and biopsy? There is information about different websites which have useful stuff.
The BSCCP colposcopists' website has helpful advice. Links to leaflets are on the NHS CSP website.
There is also a website called Jo's trust, which is a resource for women with cervical abnormalities and cancer. There is a lot of support on the forum here

Do try not to worry, easy for me to say I know. :)

My results confirmed that it was cin 3 which is severe but that they thought that they had removed it all and I have to have another colposcopy after 6 months to check. Please dont worry. Its great that you had the smear and it was found in good time. They say that it takes years for the cells to go from mildly abnormal to severe but I had a smear last year which came back normal then another after a pregnancy this year which came back severe so I guess everyone is different. I think pregnancy hormones definitely have an effect as alot of my friends have had similer problems in the year after giving birth. You will probably have to have smears every year for a while but it is worth it. Hope you get your results soon.
