General anaesthetic - reactions to?

Hi, ds had a GA last Monday. He's been doing pretty well since and is quite himself but last night he woke up about 11pm and it was as if he was having the terrors, couldn't calm him down for ages and ages. Could this be a reaction from the anaesthetic or are night terrors likely at his age (he's one). he's fine today, btw.

I don't think he would be reacting to GA now Dinny.

Ds1 had night terrors for a month or so around this age and now you come to mention it, ds3 was up literally screaming last night too (he's just one) and none of the usual strategies worked (usually a cuddle does it, then milk, then calpol - nothing - he was going ballistic). Hmmmm..

Btw, don't always give him all 3 iyswim!!

I thought it was bit too long a time, GDG. Wondered if he was remebering being put under and was scared of sleeping?

He was bolt upright when I went in and his hands were so rigidly holding cot bars I had to prise them off finger by finger. Then NOTHING calmed him (normally a boob does the trick straight away). Was horrible.

Poor man.

DD1 has theses night terrors Dinny, she even strips her bed off and wrecks the room recently
Did he seem not awake?
What can help prevent them is waking her about an hour after she goes down [just enough so she has to go back off to sleep] as it changes the depth of sleep apparently.

No, he seemed completely disconnected from me/in his own world. Thrashing about, screaming etc. Didn't realise they got them so young.

Poor dd1, though have to say the picture of T stripping her bed in the middle of the night did make me chuckle. Interesting about the waking them up thing - would giving him a little feed be sufficient, you think?

ooh, may try it. he's being v hard work about sleeping and I simply can't leave him cry for even a SECOND at the moment.

he's also feeding as much as he did as a newborn, really really into it again (probably because we're hanging round the house with no distractions and he's nothing better to do!)
