just dropped dh off for vasectomy, have heard in playground people saying it hurt for ages after, haven't passed this on to dh as don't want to give him any excuses! So, could you be kind and let me know how you held darling dh through it? DH does a lot of driving so am worried for him in case he does experience pain.

Dh had his in July - he was sore for a day or two and it was quite swollen but he was fine. He said it was no big deal and a few days later was pretty much back to normal!

My dad, BIL and FIL had vasectomies. My DH plans to have one early next year. They ALL experienced a very minimal amount of discomfort and soreness. BIL had one on Friday afternoon 4 years ago, and on Sunday he made a 200 mile drive with no pain.

This procedure does not require a scalpel incision or anything more than a local anaesthetic. It is considered minor.

Dh had his on a Friday afternoon and we went to the pub afterwards for a few drinks to help as an anaesthetic when the real (local) anaesthetic died off.
After that he went to his bed all weekend (moaning about how much pain he was in and went back to work on Monday. Mind you he did still complain about how sore he was for weeks afterwards. Wimp!

Honey, if you can squeeze something the size of a watermelon out of your lady bits and still be smiling, he can have a small op on his nethers and not require the full Florence Nightingale treatment.

Kazziegirl · 23/09/2005 15:41

My dh was a bit uncomfortable after his but nothing too bad.

a friend of mine was in pain for about a week. He slept downstairs because he didn't want to disturb his wife in the night but found it a bit tricky walking up the stairs to the loo. Ouch

jamboure · 24/09/2005 08:10

hatstand how is he?

potty1 · 24/09/2005 08:31

Hope he's OK hatstand Sorry can't resist a smirk when I think about men and vasectomys, they are so protective of their bits aren't they?

My dh was fine after a couple of days. He was in a full length leg plaster too though, as he'd broken his leg. I think that took his mind off it. He did say it was much more painful when he caught it in his trouser zip once....ouch!

Ouch potty!!!!!!!

Seems to be taking it laying down/like a man/ not as bad as I thought he would really, which is good as it's not easy getting the little ones to "mind out for Daddy". Fingers crossed it only gets easier from today. Glad it's been done now looking forward to the fun without the worry

just been told live vasectomy on This Morning (itv) tomorrow morning - don't know time!

acnebride · 27/09/2005 12:29

my xh was told to rest, he lasted 2 minutes watching me attempt to sand the floorboards and then leapt up and sanded them himself. Not surprisingly his bits swelled up and he was very uncomfortable I think for several days. Not nice really but better than a major abdominal op which I assume female steri would be.
