Winter vomiting virus but no vomit!

Anyone else experiencing this nasty virus at the moment? DD (15) suddenly felt sick on Sunday night but nothing happened. Has felt sick on and off for the last 3 days, with headache, dizziness and acute abdominal pains. Hate her missing school - it's GCSE year - but she is still quite poorly and not ready to go back tomorrow.

If anyone else has had it, how long did it last?

I'd take her to the doctors as it is clearly not a vomiting virus, but could be something more serious. Acute abdominal pains? sounds nasty.

Hi there, this happened to me and my husband about a month ago, lasted 24 hours, also no vomiting. Passed it to a couple of friends, she was the same as us but he had it badly for 2 days.

My son had it, vomited once, had diarrhoea a few times but only felt poorly for a few hours.

Depends on both the strain and your constitution I suppose!

yes my DS is just getting over something similar. had 3 days off school and it still not 100%. Several of his class have variations of it and GP reckoned virus.

She didn't eat for 24 hours, but she is hungry and has been eating since Monday night. Appendicitis crossed my mind, but she doesn't have a temperature at all and the pains come and go.

Number 1 son (24) had this at the weekend. Terrible feeling of sickness but no vomiting. Had a bit of an upset tummy but the sick feeling has lasted till today. He has no appetite and feels very tired. No. 2 son (20) on the other hand has caught the virus off his brother (I presume) and yesterday was sick every 20 minutes for most of the day and he had diarrhoea.

Thanks for all the replies. It's a nasty thing going round and really horrid to feel nauseous for so long.
