Does anyone know about Discoid Lupus Erythematosus?

For about a year now I have had these belmishes on my face...only on either side of my nose....red, open pored sometimes slightly raised...the dermatologist said it was acne and gave me antibiotics...which did nothing and I haven't been back since...this was aout 7 months ago,

Just came across references to Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and am scared I have this.

I know that its not the "bad" kind of Lupus but if I DO have it then my chances of getting the bad kind are up by 5 to 10%.

My sister has the bad kind of Lupus and it really affects her entire life....at the moment my belmishes are not that bad...bad enought that I feel self consious though.

I am afraid they will get worse...I will go to doctor...but hoped someone on here had some experience?

Another big worry is that Discoid Lupus is made worse by sun or UV exposure and my DH wants us to live in a very hot country for one year soon..he has work there...what will I do? I can't go if it could disfigure me!

If you do happen to be diagnosed with Discord Lupus, there is plenty out there on the market interms of protection including specialist clothing.

May I ask, have you experienced any problem with lighting, esp the kind in shops like Boots.

Well...thanks for replying...I'm not sure what you mean by problems with regard to lighting though...I don't like that kind of lighting, never have and I also HATE bright sunight and extreme heat...I'm very prone to burning and get rashes and feel generally miserable in the heat.

But what sort of clothing can rotect my face!? Unless you mean hats and sun cream?

i am very worried about DHs reaction...if the doctor says I do have it after testing, then I am afraid that I won't be advised to live in South Oz...where it is VERY hot...and DH will be devestated...but I can't risk forming scars can I!? I feel so stressed.
