Does anyone know what's wrong with me?

I have pins and needles/numb hands and feet or cramp at some point every day. It is making it hard to sleep, type on the PC and carry things.

I also have an awful, constant bitter taste that makes all food taste foul and odd - even chocolate. Am shattered and feel quite low as i am not sleeping and finding it hard to get out and about.

GP has ordered various blood tests but says he thinks it's unlikely much will show up as the cramps etc are something most people just put up with? I've had chronic anemia in the past but it's under control now.

I have googled of course but not come up with much.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

I had similar symptoms and it turned out I had an underactive thyroid. I was so tired I couldn't sit down without my eyes closing. Now I am on levothyroxine my life has been transformed. However, these symptoms could be anything, so hopefully the blood tests will pick up what it is. Good luck.

could be loooads of things including deficiencies (B12 etc) and thyroid problems... if you have no joy with blood tests, insist on a referral, poss neurology. is it just gloves and stockings tingling/cramps?

cremeeggs · 20/11/2010 12:19

thanks both of you for replying!

I think GP has tested thyroid so i guess I have to wait and see though the waiting is hard!

I have heard though that the blood test is notoriously bad at picking up thyroid stuff for some reason....

it's tingling/cramps up to kneew/elbows most of time. it's getting quite debilitating at times.

are you menopausal

Do you eat pine seeds? There have been people who fir months were complaining of vile metallic tastes in their mouths, plus sometimes other symptoms, and it turned out to be caused by pine seeds contaminated by something inedible.

Possible?
