The left side of my face and eye has been sore today. Now I can see a few tiny spot/blister things near my mouth on my top lip.

What if it is shingles? isnt that completely terrible during pregnancy?

I think shingles is really painful

maybe its just an allergic reaction - GDG had a funny patch on her cheek and it seems to have been a change in shampoo - cos its gone now she's gone back to her old stuff

edodgy · 20/09/2005 21:11

All the side of my face and eye gets sore when I get a coldsore so maybe this is what's wrong I find when i have them when pregnant they tend to be worse than usual.

Gobbledigook · 20/09/2005 21:13

Jools that's wrong!! Enid - when I was pg with ds3 last yr I got a red patch on one cheek that got worse and worse and even though ds3 is now 1 it's still not gone. It's like a big patch of acne - really red skin with lots of bumps and spots.

I've got antibiotic lotion at the moment.

(the other thing was a dry patch on my jawline which seems to be going now I've changed my shampoo - nothing to do with pg)

jampots · 20/09/2005 21:15

ive had pain on my left side of face and eye over the last week, coupled with sort of headache/faceache and feeling like i just need to cry to release it all. DD has just come into me and said she feels the same but nauseous too. Maybe a virus?

Congratualtions by the way

With shingles there is a band of blisters. Shingle around or near the eye must be looked at by a doctor.

Leogaela · 20/09/2005 21:35

Enid & Jampots, get it checked. Don't know about shingles and pregnancy, but I do know its best to get shingles treated as early as possible, pain and tingling in the side of the face and blisters is a sympton.

jampots · 20/09/2005 21:36

shit really?

i have no blisters though

jampots · 20/09/2005 21:36

i thought mine was probably sinusitis

JoolsToo · 20/09/2005 21:37

that's what I'm saying! maybe its nothing to do with being pg - it might just be an allergy!

EnidPregnantandRanting · 20/09/2005 22:01

it feels like a cold sore and looks like it too

could I have a cold sore on my skin instead of my lip? I do get them generally.

OP posts:
edodgy · 20/09/2005 22:04

Yes you could, ive only just started getting them on my lip i used to get them either above my lip (on the skin) or below my nose. Try tea tree oil to dry it up its really good for the sting and itch as well.

Mum2girls · 20/09/2005 22:08

Had loads of coldsores when pregnant....my sympathies

Enid · 21/09/2005 13:12

its a cold sore

and vile

embarrassed to go and pick dd1 up from school

princesspeahead · 21/09/2005 13:15

enid if it is a coldsore can you get some zovirax cream from your gp? the quicker you use it the more effective it is. don't know if you can use it in pregnancy though...
poor you

iota · 21/09/2005 13:26

The use of Zovirax Cream should be considered only when the potential benefits outweigh the possibility of unknown risks.

from here

KeepingMum · 21/09/2005 13:32

Sorry about your coldsore enid, mine got much worse when I was pregnant with ds and dd. I didn't use Zovirax but got some alcohol based stuff from Boots that dried them out quite quickly. I've got one at the moment, horrible things. I also had shingles with dd but apparently not a problem when pregnant. Hope it goes away soon.
