My blood results need a further test for Atypical Abs (group) - any ideas?

I had an antibodies blood test last week (am 30 weeks pg) and have a very unhelpful letter from antenatal dept asking me to come for the following test: "Aytpical Abs (Group)"

Starting to worry as Google has done what it always does and just worried me beyond belief.

Any ideas what it means?

Oh, I am Rhesus B neg and have also had my anti-D jab...

It might mean that you've got some antibodies in your blood that could react with a blood transfusion. By doing some more tests the blood lab can make sure they know exactly what the antibodies are and make sure that in the unlikely event of you needing a blood transfusion they will have the right blood ready. It doesn't mean there's something wrong.

Thank you sooooo much sheba - I had a blood transfusion with DD1 so another one isn't very, very unlikely. You've put my mind at rest until I can speak to a midwife at least :)

I had these come up in my 14 week blood test. I redid the test, but they weren't able to identify the antibodies (I have never had a transfusion). Absolutely nothing came of this test result about which the Obs seemed remarkably, and reassuringly, unconcerned.
