Large amounts of sick!!!!!!!!!!

DD2 (5 months) has had a funny cough (not a mucusy one, and no runny nose) for the past 24 hours and just now had a massive puking session. she heaved six times and must have brought up about 6-8 ounces of stuff (the last few being a bit greeny/yellow)

Anyone had experience of this? (dd1 was occasionally sick but never that much or that violently)

TIA

poor little bubba.... sounds like it is doing the rounds. Hope i havent passed it to her through the computer!

Definately sounds liek a tummy thing - try cooled boiled water and nothing else for a few feeds and see how she goes - if still worried call docs.

Big hugs to you all x

Is she otherwise ok - no temperature or wheezing ? See how it goes but could be the start of bronchiolitis or a chest infection. dd had bronchiolitis at 3 months (it is very common in a child's first winter as it is caused by the common cold virus, RSV) and first symptoms were a sort of pathetic cry, cough and vomiting back feeds (she already had reflux so it was pretty severe). Dehydration is the biggest worry so feed little and often.

Thanks for all your advice.
She is still smiling but is clearly very tired and is pale.
She is just feeding again now so fingers crossed

my dd did this about 6 weeks ago - has a bit of a runny nose then sick loads in half an hour and then kept retching violently had was sent by dr to the hospital, no temperature no other sympton apart from floppy disinterested and pale for a couple of hours, then started feeding and was soon back to normal but was still retching periodically.

antibes · 16/09/2005 22:27

next day right as rain!

heftybosoms · 16/09/2005 22:29

Is she still bfeeding? Can't remember (not sure I know!) - if so, keep doing that (not you personally, you understand, WMF!).

Poor little girl Hope she's better soon. Is she getting a tooth? Coughing loads can make you sick anyway, at any age.

wheresmyfroggy · 16/09/2005 22:33

It was the retching that was the worst thing antibes-really scarey, your poor dd.
Yes heftybosoms [who are you? she is still bfeeding so dw has just fed her and we are hoping it stays down.

Aww - really hope she's not sick again and hope she teethes with fewer problems than DS (temp of 40.8 earlier this week [shcok]).

ghost · 16/09/2005 23:32

Yes the retching is a nightmare - you always think they are going to choke dont you? To this day they dont know what caused it - my dd is teething as well so perhaps thats what it was ddI dont know. Sounds similar to your dd - just came out of nowhere really one minute similing then next im in a side room at hospital and you know how hard they are to get!! imagining meningitis!!!

yawningmonster · 17/09/2005 07:07

If she continues to bring up green or bright yellow vomit, get her to the gp this needs to be checked out! Our baby does have a bowel disorder but green sick is our red flag to go straight to hospital.

yawningmonster · 20/09/2005 03:24

How is she wmf? Hopefully much better.

Wheresmyfroggy

Dd had this aged 5 years and turned out to be Pneumonia - green/yellow sick would ring alarm bells with me - hope dd2 is now better?
