Is this a stress fracture?

Hi,

I have been having pain in my feet for months now. Some days it is much worse than others. I went to the Doc about it a few months ago and she sent me away with ibroprufen saying she couldnt see anything wrong - Typical!
Yesterday and the day before I was in so much pain with my right foot and I have like a bump on the top of the foot which is tender and hurts when pressed down.

Today though, I hardly have any pain but bump is still there - just wondering what this could be.

I also have pain that spreads down to my toes on both feet and at different points.

I had a DVT and tested positive for Lupus anticoagulant at the beginning of the year but I don't think its related.

I don't do any sports or anything. I just tend to walk into town, around the park etc
Any thoughts?

A stress fracture wouldn't usually cause a bump. It's more likely to be inflammation of a tendon or a neuroma which is a bulge (NOT cancerous or anything nasty) on a nerve. See your GP again.

The bump is at the top of the foot near the ankle. Would you get a mortons neuroma there?

That sounds too far back in the foot to be a Morton's neuroma but it could be a ganglion, though they are not typically painful.

Alternatively, some people are born with an extra bit of bone over the navicular bone - it is harmless but sometimes causes a lump and pain. Similarly you can have an exostosis (another type of benign bony lump) over the cuneiform bones.

ok, Have an appointment on Monday so will see. Its a bit strange because as I said some days its fine and others very painful. Will let you know what she says. Many thanks again.
