I had a course of antibiotics last week and towards the end suddenly came down with (what I thought was) an unusual case of thrush. All my bits are swollen, sore and occasionally itchy.

But now it's getting worse not better and I've got pain at the tops of my legs, and all around my lower back and tummy. It feels like I've been horseriding for days - but no redness although the skin is very sensitive to touch.

any ideas??

Take a piriton and see if it disappears very quickly. You may well be allergic to your antibiotics or thrush treatment.

thanks - tried that and it didn't work Sad

dosing up on paracetemol tonight and off to GP in the morning if no better but if anyone has any other ideas what it might be?

Sounds like some sort of infection - although lack of redness is weird in that case. The sensitive skin part makes me think of nerve things - trapped nerves, shingles, anything that causes nerve pain. But its an unusual part of the body!

Did you treat yourself for thrush?

KurriKurri · 31/10/2010 20:10

I've had symptoms similar to yours with a UTI, - the soreness and the back and abdomen pains - so might be worth taking a urine sample to the GP just in case. Hope you feel better soon.

took a diflucan tablet as soon as symptoms appeared and been treating with the cream but really wondering if it is thrush now - thanks for replies - will go to GP in the morning

What did GP say? Hope you're better!

Feeling a bit better thanks

GP checked me out and said

  • looks like grumbling appendix so go back quickly if it gets worse Shock
  • is unrelated to the thrush but did a swab anyway and a urine sample to rule out infections

whilst doing the swab said she could find the mirena coil threads ShockShock and wants to send me a for a scan

when I got home I had a good dig myself and did eventually find the threads but can only feel the very tips of them

so i personally now think that the coil is off on it's travels which may be what's causing the pain. am going to arrange to have mirena taken out before it disappears completely
