...on things to watch out for? He has a few days off and has the w-end to just take it easy - no lifting etc...

Been told to buy some tight pants to keep it all together!

anything else?

My DP had it done a couple of weeks ago; make sure your DP has access to pain killers and don't be tempted to do too much even if he feels OK.

Having said that my DP got over it very well was up and around the next day and didn't complain much; I have described him as the 'snip poster boy'!.

Take a book! Dh had to be there 9am, didnt get it done till 5.30pm as apparently everyone else had opted for a general not a local, and they took prescedence.

Check whether the stictches are dissolvable or need removing at gp; dh never checks or listens to what they tell him, so he had to just wait and see if they fell out!

Apparently, be prepared for a hideous smell of cauterising flesh! doesnt hurt anyway near as much as it smells.

Lol Mary, I'd agree with that. Every little illness now has to be compared to the pain and sacrifice he went through (even tho it was 100% his idea).

When my DH had his done he was perfectly brave :)

He wasn't allowed to drive home, so I just stayed with him at the day surgery unit etc.

He did have extensive bruising etc, but he had the op at 7pm one night, and by 5am the next morning was proving everything was still in working order, so it couldn't have hurt that much lol!

Dh said it was easiest thing ever. Ten minutes each side. No pain, just a bit uncomfy. Worst bit for him was being shaved (I did it for him Grin) and not being able to ride his bike for a bit.
DVDs and laptop with feet up helped...
