About 6 months ago i decided to have a break from the pill as id been on it nearly 20 years! inbetween having my 2 children. Anyway i thought my periods would have settled down by now? im getting them about every 3 - 4 weeks but about 4 days before each one starts proper i bleed for about a day? Do you think this is anything to worry about?

Not worry exactly, but I should go and see your gp.
I have sort of similarish problem in that I have a day or so's bleed shortly after the end of my period. Gp checked that ovaries feel ok (just through my tummy), did smear and referred me to consultant at hospital. All diagnostic though, no real sense of urgency - I saw gp in April, seen consultants in June and August, will get two scans, one in March.

Any bleeding between periods should be investigated further to ascertain the cause.

It often is not anything serious so please do not worry on that score. As mentioned though, it ought to be checked out properly.
