Hepatitis jab for breast fed baby

I'm thinking of taking my breastfed baby abroad on holiday to a country where it is usual for tourists to have the full UK range of jabs plus hepatitis. Does anyone know, please, if a child who would be exclusively breast fed throughout the trip would need the extra jab on top of the ordinary UK ones? My understanding is that hep is food/water borne and would therefore be unnecessary but would welcome any opinions especially from paediatritians/paediatric nurses. Thanks

Our DD had hepatitis A+B at birth. We were living in a very high risk country. She also had measles and polio at the same time.
She suffered no ill effects.
Whci country are you planning on visiting? [nosy]

Either Egypt or Tunisia. Am usually very pro jabs. My son has been jabbed for everything available in the UK. Just wondered if newborns who only drink Mummy Milk really needed yet another one and wasn't sure if it was even possible. Thanks for info.

If you are vaccinated then I would say that baby will be fine and won't need them. Just be careful though about bathing baby and not getting local tap water in his/her mouth!

Hep A is spread by faecal-oral route so contact with things orally. Would be possible for a breast-fed baby to get hep A.
Hep B is a blood-borne and sexually transmitted virus so baby only likely to get it if close relative gets it or they recieve medical treatment abroad

Thanks, Captain! I will get the jab. have just responded to a mother who doesn't do jabs AT ALL and is now wondering about taking her kids to Tunisia. Lunacy!
