Suspect DP has chicken pox... I'm 27 weeks pregnant... advice?

As title says, DP has come up in a spotty rash thing. Spots are itchy and it is all over his back, bum, arms, legs and front, nothing on face. He had chicken pox before (as a child) but I have heard it is possible for him to get it again - but how? He works from home and isn't around kids or anything.

I am 27 weeks pregnant and had chicken pox as a child, wasn't reinfected when a close friend had chicken pox and I nursed her 3 years ago. Am I likely to catch it if it is chicken pox and is it going to pose a serious danger to the baby? I am currently off work so we are in the house together constantly but it is just today that the spots came up. We have been in close contact, kissing, etc, and shared a bath tonight when I noticed the severity of the rash (he didn't realise it was so bad on his back and assumed this morning when he saw it on his chest after his shower that it was eczema-related). If I am going to become infected would it already have taken root or should I try and get out and stay elsewhere... if I have been infected how long will it take to manifest?

We are going to phone the doctor first thing tomorrow but I know he shouldn't go down there as he will be contagious if it is so how the hell do I tell if it is chicken pox or something else? He does suffer from eczema but this is spots rather than just a red rash.

Sorry for all the questions, just confused and worried, don't know what to do.

If it is the pox, your doctor can order you a blood test to see whether you still have immunity and there are antivirals they can give you if you don't. If you've been repeatedly exposed to chicken pox since you had it as a child then the chances are that you are still immune, though.

Thanks Prof, just googled the hell out of it and feel a bit better as I think I'm likely to be immune. Will talk to the doctor about a blood test as a precaution tomorrow anyway.
