Any advice? Have had the runs for about 5 days. Very severe cramps. No idea whether it is a bug or some kind of food poisoning. Was eating very bland stuff but have now given up eating anything other than rice as the cramps are so bad. Should I go to the doctor, is there anything they can do. I am taking Dioralyte relief, which seems to be helping a little. Any other good remedies?

see doctor, though some of the anti- runs tablets can make it worse., but 5 days is to long. Hope you are better soon.

R U feelin any better yet. Bugsy2?

Make sure you drink lots to replace lost fluid. How are you?

Aw, thank you. I'd given up and thought no one was interested in my intestines!!!! .
Still not right but think 24 hrs without eating has helped. I am on apple juice & boiled rice now and the cramps haven't gone completely but they are no longer like labour pains! I've also been taking Dioralyte Relief for rehydration. I don't like those bung you up diorrhea (sp?) tablets because I hate the thought of all that toxic stuff hanging around inside me (if that makes sense).

It could be food poisoning though Bugsy...I seem to recall www had the trots for some days during her pregnancy with dd and it turned out to be campylobacter or salmonella...not just the runs.
Amuse yourself by getting a sample off to your gp...just to be on the safe side.
Hope you feel better soon...

glad your starting to feel better.

Bugsy I get like this.. it as if something triggers an attack and then I seem to develop a temporary fat intolerence.. anything with any fat content just starts it off again.. and sometimes the cramps but with.. (excuse me).. a normal poo (but lots of them) instead of the runs.

A bit of starvation following by a very bland diet for a couple of days (lots of clear fluids throughout) always sorts me out.

Glad you feel better.

I don't beleive in suppressing 'the runs' with tablets tbh but my mum swears by them!
