Anyone got any first aid advice for a massive shin bump/graze?

I slipped getting into the shower this morning and bashed my shin really hard on the edge of the skirting - now have an ostrich egg sized bump/graze on my shin .

What are you supposed to do - rest and elevate? Shove some frozen peas on it?

I've been doing this, and it seemed a bit better, but as soon as I got up and walked on it, the bump just increased in size and now looks like it is going to explode.

Gutted as I had loads of stuff to do today including going for a nice walk in the sunshine.

It's very sore........[hsad]

Poor you - sounds painful. Definitely cold compress - so yes bag of frozen peas (wrapped in a tea towel or something similar). Could try something like whitch hazel which helps bring out the bruising.

Arnica is also good. But rest and frozen peas (not direct to the skin so wrap in a thin towel first) are the best in the short term.

Thank you seeline - I'm persevering with the frozen peas and keeping it elevated.
