Has anyone had a mole removed privately in NW London / Herts?

I have lots of moles, but one particularly large on on my face which, despite the fact I've lived with it all my life, is now really bothering me. I think it has got slightly bigger over time, but doesn't show any other signs of being suspicious in terms of cancer, so GP is referring me to dermatology but didn't seem all that hopeful that they would remove it.

Just wondered how much it might cost to go private - not interested in fancy hospital services as it should be a day case, but I have no idea what consultation / procedure might cost. GP thinks that given its position it should be done by dermatologist with plastics experience rather than the kind of stuff some GP surgeries do (and mine doesn't anyway).

Thanks.

well I went to my GP about 2 on my back, one which was bleeding and itchy and not all one colour. He told me he thought I might have to have it removed privately as he wasnt sure the NHS would fund it Hmm. He told me it would be £120 at local clinic/GP centre.

NHS have agreed to fund mine and having them removed next week :)

I live NW London/Herts border & have had a melanoma & other moles removed privately at Bishops Wood Hospital- it is attached to Mount Vernon in Northwood.
My consultant was David Gault- very good plastic surgeon with dermo experience too.

My procedures were done several years ago & cost about £400 as a walkin/out patient. Not sure if that included the initial consultation as I had private health care at the time.

He was fantastic though & worth every penny! Not only did he save my life, but the scarring is so minimal it is barely visible.

Thanks both - will wait and see what happens but I know Mount Vernon so will have a look at that.

My friend had one removed privately from the Royal Free hospital NW3 and they were brilliant.

I have a mole on my face which is definitely getting bigger so I might make a consultation appointment.
