Hi sorry Blush Hearts racing, just sitting on facebook and TV on in back ground. Not watching it really or doing anything stressful on here and suddenly felt in my chest heart racing. Just put hand on chest now and its back to feeling normal, like you can feel it but not like its about to burst out of chest!!

Never had it as bad as this, although do have probs with fast heart rate/fainting. Am wondering if its the antibiotics?? Could that be making my existing heart issues worse? Been on clarythromicin since Sunday for chest infection (which is now getting much better)

Am not too worried, 6months ago have had exercise stress test, echo and Monday had ecg and was fast but regular. Just scary that was sitting doing nothing and completely calm and suddenly started having that.

sounds scary, but its calmed down now, right?

not sure about the AB.

I used to get palpitations from coffee (I was drinking too many espressos...) Was not nice....

hugs

do some deep breathing, or go outside for a bit of fresh air

giraffesCantDookForApples · 13/10/2010 15:20

Yes calmed down now. Which is odd you would think if I am worried would be more, I mean its still well over 100 but doesnt feel bursting out chest.

Yes I get it from coffee, but never as bad as that.

might it have been a panic attack?

much sympathy from me - sounds scary and horrible

TanteRose · 13/10/2010 15:24

over 100??? that is fast...

can you get it lower by deep breathing? that's what I do. (I get the half blacking out thing too..)

casualmnetter · 13/10/2010 15:29

I have SVT which causes your heart to race so not sure if it's the same type of thing. I can slow my heart down by holding nose and blowing into hand. Not sure if that will help?

giraffesCantDookForApples · 13/10/2010 15:30

Not panic attack, was totally calm and chilled out enjoying fb stuff. Its always over 100, this is problem.

Its stopped now. Well not stopped Wink but back to its normal fast but not racing.

the thing about panic attacks is that they can hit you for no apparent reason when you've no reason to feel worried or anxious at all

bastards!

Do the ABs information leaflet mention racing hears in the side effects part?

Glad you're back to normal now. Smile

giraffesCantDookForApples · 13/10/2010 15:50

"changes in heart rhythm" are mentioned in rare side effects. Am not taking them again incase!

Doesn't feel like panic attack, had them years ago when a teen and was totally different. Feels more like when have had fainting episodes before.

Spoke to dr and he said if happens again to go to hosp as could be Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (had to google that to spel it)

hi,my heart does that, i have a misfiring sinus node. beta blockers slow it down, check it out at doctors.

giraffesCantDookForApples · 13/10/2010 20:12

well happened again, friend took me up to hosp, had xray and ecg. But it was only 130 when they did ecg and felt fine then just a tiny bit sore. Anyway friend stayed with me and brought me sandwiches, choc and juice which I am having now.
