His final diagnosis this time was a lower respiratory tract infection & the bug that grew was this one

Has anyone had/heard of it?

Thanks

He is home, he is better than he was - although he is still exhausted; fingers crossed for the future

Hi Katy

Yep moraxella is one of my usuals. It's quite a regular in patients with cf/bronchiectasis so your dh will be more prone to it. It can be a nasty one tbh, symptoms can be worse and more long lasting than HFlu. I would have thought tazocin would get rid but if not yes definitely he should be resistance tested. Clarithromycin and azithromycin are what I use to knock moxy on the head, but a weeks worth is never enough, usually three weeks is about right.

How's he doing on the IVs? Is he out soon? Hope he's much better soon. How are you doing? Have been thinking of you.

Just seen your last post - glad he is home.

KatyMac · 09/10/2010 15:36

He's only had 9 days of IV - I do hope that is enough

Why did they stop it at 9? seems strange, usually they do 14 days. Well hopefully they know what they are doing and it has got rid of the nasties.

Could it be because they wanted the ward empty at the weekend?

That was mean of me wasn't it, sorry
