Hello, I am quite new to mumsnet so am still learning how to get around. I have been searching for any pointers on a rash which has developed on my ds. It is predominantly on his arms, but also a little on his chest, back and on his neck under his chin. The spots are individual and not blotchy. I have done the glass test on it and they do go white under pressure. It has been very hot recently, does it sound like a heat rash?

It could be heat rash, particularly if he's not showing any other signs of being unwell. You could always take him in to see a pharmacist if you're unsure.

Ds always used to get a rash when he had a bad cold. GP says it's a viral rash.

DD has a rash now on the back of her neck & top part of her back. Seems itchy but comes & goes. GP said 'don't know what that is' but seemed completely unconcerned.

Has he had a cold/is he getting a cold ?
Has he been in contact with anything washed in powder/liquid other than your normal non-bio?

If it's not bothering him and he has no other symptoms I would ignore it - at least for a few days. Check it out if it bothers him or persists.

yes he's just getting over a really mucusy cold, haven't used anything non-bio or different, we did fly back from uk on wednesday but he was pretty well covered up as it was night and he had a baby grow on. He seems otherwise fine but is having his MMR jab on weds so am being extra cautious, can show it to the clinic then if it's still around. Thanks for the advice

how old is he?

my ds had a really horrible rash round his neck, which started spreading to his arms and chest...

turned out it was thrush! the health visitor said she had never heard of it, but as soon as he had the thrush threatment it disappeared

he's 15 months, he did have a bit of thrush under his arms when he was very little but I didn't know they could get it on that scale, I'll bear it in mind, especially if it gets any worse
