Can you help me with these symptoms ?

Pain on left side of head, confusion, dizziness, disorientation, struggling to concentrate .... generally feeling a bit drunk really ?

A work colleague went to the hospital on Monday with these symptoms on Monday when her GP couldn't fit her in - they did a CT scan and said nothing could be seen so to just relax for a couple of days no focusing on TV, laptop, reading etc and it should go.

She's returned to work today in a right state - she's tried to soldier through but the boss has just called her mum to take her straight back to the hospital as she's really confused and dizzy - trying to do simple things she does on a daily basis are proving hard.

Any ideas ?

Sounds like some sort of a stroke

Iklboo · 07/10/2010 13:31

That sounds like one of my migraines - I get them on one side or the other (right side ones are worse), very dizzy & disorientated, black 'blooms' in front of my eyes and, yes, feel drunk & spaced out.

I was going to say what LL (the other LL) said.

Could be labyrinthitis, a middle ear infection? Friend has had it, causes dizziness 'drunk' feeling, confusion

FoghornLeghorn · 07/10/2010 14:13

I have had labyrinthitis and not sure it's that - I literally just got wave after wave of dizziness. She's more wobbly iykwim

OK Migraine ... hasn't thought of that - that seems like the better outcome.

Stroke - Surely she would know if she'd had a stroke - wouldn't she ?

Would think so, also to be checked at hosp & them not notice that would be surprising IMO

FoghornLeghorn · 07/10/2010 15:08

Thats what I thought arfa. Hopefully she's been seen now and it's all being dealt with

Just heard from her. She is being kept in and will be having an MRI and a Lunbar Puncture

They tried to a lumbar puncture last night but after 10 unsuccessful attempts, gave up :(

She is having an MRI this morning and depending on the results they may try the Lumbar Puncture again ... all sounds very distressing for her
