Can I ask for the blood test to test thyroid only? I don't want them testing anything else.

I have had an over active thyroid for a few years. I have to have thyroid function test every 6 months. They never test for anything else at the same time.

why wouldnt you want other blood tests? Sorry if being nosy, the only reason I ask is because I ahev recently been to the doctors with the exact symptoms of underactive thyroid and I have anaemia - not your usual type either.

Anaemia in any form can cause the same smptoms as thyroid - tired/listlessness, exhaustion, dizziness, out of breath, palpitations, hair loss, weigh loss or gain, sore tongue, acne etc.

Sorry but it doesn't really work like that. You consult your doctor with symptoms, if they feel it needs further investigation to make a diagnosis they will order whatever tests are necessary. If you want specific tests for another reason you will need to have them done privately which will cost AND you will not get any explanation or treatment either.

Thanks. Crispface, not nosey at all, its just I fear all things medical and I dont want anything testing that doesnt have to be done

My symptoms are: tiredness, and being over weight when I dont eat enough to be over weight

Fair enough, though I can't help thinking (and forgive me because I don't suffer from from the same anxieties so don't really understand) that if you fear doctors then only got he once for aaaaalll the blood tests you might need so you won't need to go again, and then if they are all clear you might be able to breathe easy for a while.

could you be wheat or dairy intolerant? Does your tiredness have a pattern? ie more tired after sleeping etc?

Any other symptoms? headache, muscle spasms, breathles etc? ( I am honestly not tryign to worry you, I am relating my own experiences and wondering if you have what I had, which is incredibly curable by just taking a supplement for a few weeks)
