TMI alert re episiotomy healing...

I gave birth 2 weeks ago to a lovely baby boy. Straightforward vaginal birth with an episiotomy. All seemed clean and healing - and in fact still seems so, but having looked with a magnifying mirror after my shower this morning the sutures have gone ?dissolved? but the labial skin doesnt look closed up, there is an obvious V shape in the outline of the labia and you can see underneath to ?tissue. Its not red or sore at all and im not getting any problems down there.

My question is: Knowing it can take 6 weeks to heal properly, is this normal at 2 weeks PN and will carry on healing up, or have I lost the sutures too early and its not going to get any better?

I think you'd be best getting your midwife or GP to take a look. Everybody looks a bit different iyswim and I think you need a medical view. Then you'll get proper reassurance or action if it's needed. Congratulations on your son Grin

Thanks NorthernLurker, will book an appt this week with my gp ( already discharged by midwife). Guess I need a professional to look but Sunday is not the best time to discover odd-shaped bits.

Grin It's always a SUNDAY when these things happen Grin Don't worry though 0- it's probably just healing but even if it isn't it can be fixed and you will not be the only woman this happens to.
